Starting the week of Nov. 7, Fort Worth’s garbage, recycling and yard waste collections will operate on new pickup schedules based on new collection routes.

Not all residents will be affected. Residents who will be affected by the new schedule were mailed a postcard with a notice of service change and their new collection day.

The changes are being made to balance out the routes so that residential customers will have fewer missed collections and routes will be completed on time.

“Improved customer service is always our goal,” said Brandon Bennett, Code Compliance director. “We listened to the feedback we received from our customers and our collection teams. We hope that these changes will allow us to continue to meet our service goals and cut down on late or missed collections.”

Remember that all garbage, recycling and yard waste must be at the curb by 7 a.m. on the morning of the collection day. Collection times vary and collection can occur anytime between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

With the potential for severe weather on Friday, residents are also asked to secure bins to reduce the chance of trash and recycle items coming out of the bins.

To see if your collection day has changed, visit the Garbage & Recycling website at: www.fortworthtexas.gov/departments/code-compliance/solidwaste and enter your address in the Calendar icon of the ReCollect Service Tool located next to the Waste Wizard. New routes will not be on the online tool until Nov. 7.

Residents can also get collection day notifications and reminders via text, email or voice message with the Fort Worth Garbage & Recycling app available through the Apple App Store and Google Play. New routes will not be on the app until Nov. 7.
